Registered Psychological Associate (supervised practice)
Daphne Au Young is a registered psychological associate (supervised practice) and a member of the College of Psychologists of Ontario and Ontario Association of Consultants, Counsellors, Psychometrists and Psychotherapists (OACCPP). She obtained her Masters degree in Clinical Psychology from the University of Indianapolis. She has more than 20 years of experience in a wide range of settings including community, rehabilitation clinic, psychiatric hospital, and prison. She works with adult clients.
Daphne helps students with anxiety or depression to return to school and graduate. Her most recent clinical interest is the field of trauma – helping individuals to deal with motor vehicle accidents, childhood abuse, physical abuse, sexual abuse, and emotional abuse. Daphne finds great joy in assisting her clients to overcome their fears.
In addition to providing psychotherapy and psychological assessment, Daphne has been going to different cities in Ontario since 2016 to deliver workshops to settlement workers on how to work with immigrants and refugees exposed to trauma.
Daphne is an Ericksonian, and trained under Dr. Jeffrey Zeig, a student of Dr. Milton Erickson. As an Ericksonian, Daphne provides individualized treatment for clients and focuses on building on their strengths. She utilizes techniques from cognitive behavioural therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, mindfulness, and hypnotherapy.
Clients find Daphne to be caring, friendly, and fun to talk to. Services by Daphne can be provided in English and Cantonese.
